The term bug out has been used by military training institutions around the world since the ’50s, meaning soldiers must have a coordinated location, a method of withdrawal, and the bare supplies needed in the event of a fast retreat. We used the new Converse Mountain Club Fastbreak to explore a simpler notion of bugging out — inner tension, retreat, and release. The MC18 serves as a bare supply that will carry you anywhere — from the city to the mountains — and back again.
During the second World War, many American companies shifted their production efforts to support troops in combat, including Converse, who crafted rubber boots, canvas training boots, and weatherized gear. It's from this history that inspired Converse to create the new Mountain Club capsule collection for 2018. Drawing design cues from the Extreme Cold Weather boot from the 1950s, the MC18 line is built to handle whatever you can throw at them.
Through the design lens of rugged utility, the MC18 collection reinterprets three classic Converse styles — the Chuck Taylor All Star, One Star and Fastbreak — utilizing GORE-TEX® technology to make the shoes waterproof. These rugged interpretations of classic Converse styles will take off the beaten path and back again.
