The photographer Danny Lyon was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1942 and is responsible for some of the most iconic images in American motorcycling history. His images are stark, revealing, compelling, and honest. His documentation of his time spent with the Chicago Motorcycle club The Outlaws and the subsequent book "The Bikeriders" produced a set of images that has inspired & continues to inspire generations of motorcyclists. Danny wasn't satisfied with simply being a voyeur documentarian, he needed to experience the lifestyle by living it and became a member. Participating in the lifestyle allowed him to depict the The Outlaws in a more intimate & revealing light. It allowed him to capture the raw purity of the freedom these men and women sought and the willingness live on the fringe of society to chase that freedom. For better or worse living as untethered souls. To live on their own terms. Here's to the ride.
