Open Road 2013

I woke to an alarm this morning at 2:30 am with a foggy recollection that I just finished a dream where I was conducting a healthy argument with my new friend Nevin over at Deus (I met him once). I can not quite remember what we were debating, but it was all in good humor. Perhaps a prelude to hanging with him in PDX at The One Moto Show this coming weekend.

Seven hours later and we beat an epic snowstorm making its way into Boston and I'm sitting with my boys Adam and Greg on our first stop - a layover in Dallas-Fortworth, enroute to Portland (drawing diagram in my head, ya, that makes sense).

#OPENROAD2013

2013 has gotten off to an amazing start. We released the first of our new printed publishing schedule with Issue Seven, had a great showing in NYC at IMS with friends new and old, and are now headed out to see how our pals in the Pacific-Northwest make it happen. I'm really looking forward to connecting with so many internet celebrities (aka people that have only existed in my inbox and instant message list) on this trip.

While in Portland, we'll also have a presence over at The International Motorcycle Show Chicago with our friends from Ton-Up Chicago. Stay tuned for some info on our participation in the Mods vs. Rockers Chicago 2013. If you're in Chicago - head over and check out one of the favorites of the garage-built custom scene, the CX500 by Moto Mucci. Dave Mucci will have the CX and his new SR250 custom fresh off the bench and nearly complete for you to get a first glimpse at. You can also stop by the Iron & Air booth and grab a copy of Issue Seven while you're there (plug). :)

Over the next eight days, follow along instagram, twitter and facebook as we bring you not just a look inside The One Moto Show, but the rest of what will be a jammed pack, epic week of beating darkness on two-wheels, rain, hail and glorious sun (pray) up and down the California coast. While Adam & Greg finish off every last bit of the greasy moto show and show westerners east-coast hipness, I will bail a bit early and commandeer a 2013 Triumph Bonneville (kindly lent to me by our sponsor Triumph),  drive 650 miles to San Francisco with new friends Josh Jackson & Steven Mummulo of Blood Brothers (featured in Issue Four). I'll then hang with just about every one of our sponsors, swindle some new ones and then work my way down to LA to check out the Conrad Leach exhibit and hang/ride with friends from Triple Nickel and Deus. Finally, I get off two-wheels and get back into the sky - making my way through the west coast, ending up in Miami, Florida for the OSYB (Old Soul Young Blood) Vintage Festival happening on February 16th.

So here goes. Some posts will ramble. Others will be pithy. Either way - eight days. six states. eight-thousand miles and a ton of fun. Now I must prepare for a healthy battle of wits with Nevin.
